Craft Nights

Craft Nights are a fun and festive way to get creative during the colder months. These community events offer a chance to gather with friends and family to make seasonal crafts, sip warm drinks, and enjoy some hands-on holiday cheer. Whether you're a seasoned crafter or just looking for a cozy night out, Craft Nights are the perfect way to embrace the season together.

Public Skating

Public Skating is a great way to stay active and have fun with family and friends during the colder months. Running annually from October to April, skates are held at the Pembroke Memorial Centre and offer a welcoming environment for all ages and skill levels to enjoy time on the ice.

Snowshoeing

Snowshoeing is a fun and accessible way to enjoy Pembroke’s scenic winter landscapes. With free snowshoe rentals available at the Pembroke Memorial Centre, it’s easy for all ages and skill levels to hit the trails.

Earth Week

Earth Week is celebrated during the week of Earth Day (April 22) and is all about coming together to care for our environment. Each year, the City of Pembroke hosts community cleanup contests that invite residents, schools, and local groups to roll up their sleeves and help beautify our community. It’s a fun and meaningful way to show local pride while making a positive impact on the planet.

 Waterfront LIVE!

Waterfront LIVE! is a summer concert series that brings free live music to Pembroke’s beautiful Waterfront Amphitheatre. Running throughout the summer, this beloved event showcases local talent and a variety of musical styles—from rock and country to folk and jazz. Bring a lawn chair, relax by the river, and enjoy an evening of great tunes and community vibes in the heart of Pembroke.

Movie Night in the Park

Movie Night in the Park is a free summer tradition in Pembroke, held Tuesday evenings at the Waterfront Amphitheatre. Thanks to the generous support of Bogie’s Bar, families and friends can enjoy outdoor movies under the stars in a beautiful waterfront setting all summer long

Yoga in the Park

Yoga in the Park is a refreshing summer tradition in Pembroke that invites participants of all levels to enjoy a peaceful outdoor yoga session by the waterfront. Led by qualified instructors, this free program is a great way to relax, recharge, and connect with your community in a beautiful outdoor setting.

Science Camp

Science Camp is a fun and educational program for youth ages 9–13. Held each summer, participants enjoy hands-on experiments and interactive activities exploring various fields like environmental science, health, and engineering.

Chair Yoga

Chair Yoga is a gentle, accessible way to stay active and improve well-being. Held in the fall, this seated yoga program is perfect for older adults or anyone looking for a low-impact way to enhance flexibility, strength, and relaxation.

Seniors' Programming

Offered through the Pembroke 50+ Active Living Centre, these programs run year-round and provide adults aged 50+ with opportunities to stay active, social, and engaged. From fitness classes to creative workshops, there’s something for everyone.

Step Back in Time Walking Tour
Explore Pembroke’s rich history with the Step Back in Time Walking Tour. This self-guided tour takes you through historic sites and landmarks, offering a glimpse into the stories, architecture, and people that shaped the city. It’s a great way to discover local heritage while enjoying a walk through downtown Pembroke.

Youth Subsidy

Jumpstart for Kids

Jumpstart helps kids take part in sports and recreation by covering costs and removing barriers. The program makes sure all kids, no matter their abilities, have the chance to play. To apply, visit the Canadian Tire Jumpstart website and fill out an online application. 

 

KidSport

KidSport is a national non-profit that helps families with the cost of sports by covering registration fees and equipment for kids 18 and under. They believe every child should have the chance to play, no matter their financial situation. To learn more or apply, call 204-925-5914 or visit their website.

 

Sport 4 All

The Sports 4 All Fund helps kids and youth get involved in sports by offering financial support for costs such as registration fees, equipment, and travel. They support both individuals and teams, with a focus on helping families in Renfrew County—but they also accept applications from other areas. Park Social Club

Park Social Club is a series of relaxed, inclusive park meetups for neurodivergent children and their families. These free, drop-in gatherings offer welcoming spaces for kids to play and socialize at their own pace, while caregivers have a chance to connect and share experiences.

The City of Pembroke's Parks and Recreation Department aims to actively engage the people of Pembroke and the surrounding area to provide events and programming in an effort to maintain healthy, active, and social living. The department strives to be inclusive of members of the community of all abilities, ages, gender identities, sexual orientations, races, and languages to ensure the recreational needs of everyone is met.
