The present Corporation of the City of Pembroke Council was established during the October 24, 2022 municipal elections for a four-year term ending November 14, 2026. Five councillors and one deputy mayor make up this council under the chairmanship of mayor. The inaugural meeting of the new Council was held on November 29, 2022.
City Council meetings are generally held in Council Chambers at City Hall, 1 Pembroke Street East, on the first and third Tuesday of each month following the Standing Committee meetings which begin at 6 p.m. During the months of July and August, as well as during the month of December in the year of a regular municipal election, one regular meeting of council is held in each month unless additional meetings are called by the Mayor.
