Pembroke is known as Hockey Town Canada and hockey is a key part of our local culture. Several Hockey Hall of Famers come from Pembroke, including the NHL's first MVP, Frank Nighbor. Today, the Pembroke Lumber Kings play Junior A hockey each Sunday night at 7 p.m. at the Pembroke Memorial Centre from September-March. Make sure to enjoy a night at the rink and see the historical displays and plaques commemorating the 2011 National Championship winning team, coached and managed by future Maple Leafs and Devils coach Sheldon Keefe.

Bring your skates and enjoy public skating at the historic Pembroke Memorial Centre, located at 393 Pembroke St. W. Public skating runs from October-March. Find the current schedule on our Skating page.

Coming to Pembroke in the winter? Bring your skates and stick to jump on the ice at our outdoor rink located at Rotary Park.

The Pembroke Curling Centre at 428 Herbert St. is your go-to place to watch or join in on curling action throughout the season. Visitors are able to join as a spare or simply enjoy a day at the rink.

Each November, Pembroke hosts the Terry O'Neill Regional Silver Stick Hockey Tournament, welcoming hundreds of teams playing across U11, U13, U15, and U18 categories to the region. More information can be found on the Silver Stick website.

Grab your board and head to The Rapids Skate Park, located at the corner of Lake Street and Albert Street, to join fellow skaters. Enjoy a collection of different features to keep you stoked all day.

Visiting in the summer? Bring your bathing suits and enjoy our outdoor splash pads at Riverside Park and Rotary Park.

Open seasonally, play 18 holes of fun for everyone at Riverside Park's Civitan Mini Golf, open daily from dawn to dusk in the summer.

Bringing your racquets with you to Pembroke? We have tennis courts at Rotary Park and pickleball courts at Kinsmen Park open seasonally.

There are four bowling alleys within an hour of Pembroke. To enjoy local lanes, head to the Deep River Bowling Alley, the Opeongo Bowldrome in Renfrew, Steelheads & Strikes in Arnprior, or the Chapeau Bowling Alley at Harrington Hall Community Centre.

Pembroke has a sport equipment lending hub at Riverside Park open seasonally, where sports equipment and outdoor adventure materials can be rented free of charge.

Current equipment able to be rented includes:

  • Adventure packs (includes bird and tree identification booklets, magnifying glass, binoculars, flashlight, note pad, and first aid kit)

Plus, during the winter, visit the Parks and Recreation office at the Pembroke Memorial Centre to rent snowshoes for free.

Hockey Town Canada hats, shirts, and sweaters are available for purchase at the Parks and Recreation Department office located within the Pembroke Memorial Centre. For more information, call 613-735-6821 ext. 1501.

While staying in Pembroke, take a day trip to Ottawa, where you can see the National Hockey League's Senators, National Lacrosse League's Black Bears, or Professional Women's Hockey League's Charge in action during the winter and the Canadian Football League's Redblacks during the summer.
