Pembroke has an active physician community, many assisted living and long-term care facilities, and other specialized healthcare providers throughout the city to supply residents with all necessary services.

With an engaged physician community, the dedicated support of staff, and hundreds of active volunteers, the Pembroke Regional Hospital provides acute services in emergency and intensive care, medical/surgical care, acute mental health, orthopaedics, and obstetrics. The PRH has a full range of rehabilitation services, is the designated District Stroke Centre for our region, and provides community-based mental health services throughout Renfrew County. Chemotherapy, dialysis, and a variety of ambulatory care clinics are offered on an outpatient basis through partnerships with regional centres and nearby specialists. The PRH offers a full range of diagnostic services including computed tomography, MRI (magnetic resonance imaging), nuclear medicine, and mammography.

Miramichi Lodge, situated along the shores of the Ottawa River, is a not-for-profit long-term care home owned and operated by the County of Renfrew and the City of Pembroke. Since 1969, a wide-range of quality long-term programs and services including 24-hour nursing care, accommodation, meals, as well as physiotherapy programs and a variety of social and recreational activities have been provided to the residents who call the Lodge home. Miramichi Lodge is a vibrant part of the community offering a variety of community services such as respite care, a HeartWise walking program, chronic disease self-management workshops, family support groups for dementia, and monthly community paramedic wellness clinics.
Rates are set each annually by the Ministry of Long-Term Care and the Champlain Local Health Integration Network (CLHIN) can guide you through the admission process.
