Jim Sloan Memorial Ball Hockey Tournament

Jim Sloan’s impact on the community cannot be overstated. He was instrumental in the establishment of Bogie’s Bar at the Pembroke Memorial Centre, served on numerous committees, helped to organize many community functions and causes, and when he wasn’t volunteering, served a long tenure with the Pembroke Police. Jim always wanted to recognize the work of others but never sought recognition himself. After a lengthy illness, Jim passed away in 2018 and left behind a remarkable legacy. There is no one more fitting to be the namesake of this tournament.

Youth Division

7-12 years old

$85 per team

Intermediate Division

13-15 years old

$110 per team

Adult Division

16 to 99 years old

$135 per team

Game Format

• Each game will be 20 minutes long.
• Played in a 4-on-4 format, plus goalies.
• Teams must have a minimum of 5 players and a maximum of 10 players.
• Each team is guaranteed at least 3 games during the tournament.

Tournament Rules

1. Games will be 4-on-4 plus goalies for a total of 5 players on the playing field at a time. Each game will last 20 minutes, with points awarded based on the outcome (2-W / 1-T / 0-L)
2. Goalies must wear helmets with a full-face mask, gloves, and pads. It is recommended for players to wear helmets.
   
3. Our officials will call general hockey infractions, and penalty shots will be awarded instead of penalties.
   
4. During playoffs, ties will be decided by a 5 minute sudden death overtime, then a five shot shoot out. If teams remain tied a coin toss will decide which team advances.
5. Faceoffs will take place at center at the beginning of games, after goals and before overtime.
   
6. When a goalie freezes the ball, the opposition must retreat and allow the team to reset play.
   
7. Ties in the standings will be broken by head-to-head results, then goal differential. If teams remain tied, goals against will be taken into account.

To register, the team captain or a parent must log in to our online booking system and enroll in the appropriate division.

If you are registering your child's team for the Youth Division or Intermediate Division, you must enroll your child in the activity to ensure they meet the age requirements.

1. Go to Pembroke.ca/booking.
2. Click Create an Account.
3. Enter your personal details, including name, email, and phone number.
4. Set up a username and password.
5. Complete any additional required fields.
6. Click Submit to finalize your account creation.
7. Check your email for a confirmation message and verify your account if needed.

How to Create an Account for Your Child:

1. Log into your account.
2. Click Manage Household.
3. Select Add Family Member.
4. Complete the required steps.

A member of the Recreation team will contact you to collect the team roster, including player ages and an email address.
