The City of Pembroke, along with surroundings municipalities, provides a collection program providing regular garbage, container and paper recycling, and compost collection services to residential properties and to some multi-residential and commercial establishments.
Our 2024/2025 collection schedule is split into three different regions across Pembroke. The different regions have a designated day from Monday to Wednesday for collection. Find your location on the collection map to learn more about your collection date. The type of waste alternates weekly with the following two bins paired on the same day:
- Green and blue bins
- Garbage and yellow bins
Starting the first week of June and ending the last week in August, green bins will be picked up with every collection.
Residents can find out what goes in which bin with the sorting guide from the Ottawa Valley Waste Recovery Centre.
Put collection items out before 5:00 a.m. on the day of collection or the night before after 7:00 p.m. Please put your collection items and bins inside your driveway five feet back from the road or curb. Putting your bins five feet back is very important in the winter especially when its snows. Putting bins back five feet helps with snow removal and reduces the likelihood your bins will get damaged. Anything you put in green bins should be wrapped in newspaper to reduce the chance of the cart freezing. Balled up newspaper should be put on the grate in the cart and throughout the cart in layers.
Blue boxes/yellow bin/net recycling covers can be purchased at the City of Pembroke Operations Department at 460 River Rd. Office hours are 7:30 a.m. until 4 p.m.

Blue bin, green bin, and compost |
Green bins and blue bins are picked up every second week as regular collection. In June, July, and August green bins will be picked up every week. Please look at the leaf and yard waste collection schedule before putting any extra bags out. Extra bags will not be picked up all year long. |

These wastes are accepted year round at the Ottawa Valley Waste Recovery Centre during regular operating hours. (no charge) E-Waste is also accepted curbside during large item collection. |
