Register to Vote |
Check, update or add your information to the Municipal Voters' List. If you are a resident, owner, or tenant of property in the City of Pembroke, a Canadian citizen, and at least 18 years of age, you can vote in the 2022 City of Pembroke Municipal Election. Up until August 31, 2022, you are able to find out if you're on the list to vote for the 2022 Municipal and School Board Election by visiting the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation's (MPAC) voterlookup. MPAC is responsible for identifying all potential municipal and school board electors. After August 31, 2022, any changes to your information on the list requires you to submit an Application to Amend the Voters' List with the City of Pembroke. Remember, your information needs to be updated if you have changed your name, or moved since the 2018 municipal election. You'll also need to add your information if you're a new voter. Voters who are on the City of Pembroke Voters' List will receive a Voter Information Letter closer to the election, which will include a personal Online Voting PIN. You may only vote once in the City of Pembroke Municipal Election regardless of how many properties you own or rent within the Municipality. If neither you nor your spouse do not personally own or rent the property in the municipality (i.e. the property is owned by your business) you do not qualify as a non-resident elector. How to Vote |
The Council of the City of Pembroke has approved the use of Internet voting as an alternative voting method for the 2022 Municipal and School Board Election. The City of Pembroke has decided to pursue Voatz Canada Ltd. for their online election platform that stresses security and accessibility for all residents of the City. Internet voting will be available during the advanced voting period of the election (10:00 a.m. on October 14, 2022, to 8:00 p.m. on October 24, 2022), and traditional paper ballots will be used on Voting Day (October 24, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m.) at the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 72, Pembroke. Electors will be able to access the internet voting system through a browser on their personal computer, an application on their phone, or at a dedicated computer located at City Hall or the Pembroke Public Library. To learn how to vote online, Voatz Canada Ltd. has created an instructional video. Prior to the Advanced Voting Period, Electors will receive voter information letters in the mail containing a unique PIN and instructions on how to cast their vote. City Hall located at 1 Pembroke Street East, will also have a digital voting station available with a secure internet connection during the Advanced Voting Period. Traditional paper ballots and vote tabulators will be used during the voting period at area Long Term Care Homes and Retirement Homes, and for the general public on Voting Day, October 24, 2022. |
Voter Help and Revision Centre |
City Hall as well as the Pembroke Public Library will have a digital voting station set up with a secure internet connection for those wishing to cast their vote. Trained Election Officials will be on site to provide assistance where required. If you plan to visit the Voter Help and Revision Centre to cast your vote, bring your voter information letter containing your unique PIN and one piece of ID that has your name and address on it. Any identification listed on the Province of Ontario's acceptable document list for voter identification will be accepted. Staff will check if you are eligible to vote before directing you to the voting area where you will go behind a voting screen and use a computer or an iPad to cast your vote. If you require personal assistance to vote, you may ask a friend to assist you. Your friend must swear a declaration prior to offering assistance. The person acting as a friend may go behind the voting screen with you. A person may act as a friend only once, except in nursing homes, or for family members. Pursuant to the City of Pembroke's Accessible Customer Service Policy, individuals requiring service animals are permitted to be accompanied by a service animal at the Voting Place and Help and Revision Centre. If you require the assistance of an interpreter, you may ask anyone who is not a candidate or scrutineer to act as your interpreter. The interpreter must swear a declaration before providing assistance. |

The Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO) provides training Lead Where You Live: A Guide On Running for Municipal Council. It is a candidate's responsibility to file a complete and accurate financial statement by Friday, March 31, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. If you filed a nomination form, you must file a financial statement. This applies to candidates who withdrew their nomination, who were not certified and did not appear on the ballot, and candidates who were acclaimed.
