Construction Projects and Road Closures

Project Description

The project limits consist of Bennett Street between Julien Street and the Boundary Road/International Drive intersection.

The City will be completing the Bennett Street watermain project in 2024 with works generally consisting of the replacement of watermain, services, hydrants and valves along Bennett Street and the testing, commissioning and final watermain connections to the City’s water distribution system on Boundary Road and Bennett Street.

The works also include extensive works to be completed within the existing concrete valve chamber located in the intersection of Boundary Road/Bennett Street/International Drive. Paving works and culverts replacements will also be completed and the final lift of asphalt will be placed on all of Bennett Street.

Traffic Impacts

Bennett Street as well as the intersection of Bennett Street and Boundary Road are open to traffic.

Status 

Construction works are complete with landscaping restorations ongoing.

Schedule 

Outstanding landscaping and ditching works will be completed during the months of September/October 2024.

Project Description

The project limits consist of Boundary Road between Paul Martin Drive and Bennett Street/International Drive.

The anticipated scope of work for 2024 will generally consist of the suspension of a new watermain from the Taylor Bridge, the testing, commissioning and final watermain connections to the City’s water distribution system at Paul Martin Drive and Bennett Street and the paving works of the final lift of asphalt.

Traffic Impacts

The intersection of Bennett Street and Boundary Road is open to traffic.

Boundary Road will be subject to lane closures until into November with traffic control persons directing traffic during these occurrences.

The businesses along Boundary Road are open for business and are accessible. The many business owners would be happy to serve you.

Status

Watermain installation works have been completed and commissioned. The commissioning of the watermain on the bridge and placement of the final lift of asphalt on Boundary Road will be completed this fall. 

Schedule

The bridge watermain connections to the existing watermain system and the placement of the final lift of asphalt are anticipated to be completed in October 2024.

Traffic Impacts

Local traffic, emergency and waste collection services will be maintained. Traffic will be restricted to one lane during construction with temporary traffic signals and/or flagging personnel directing traffic.

Schedule 

The placement of temporary water services to commence June 24, 2024 with an estimated construction completion date of August 23, 2024.

Project Description

The anticipated scope of work will generally consist of the pulverization of the existing road top surface, structure adjustments and one lift of fresh asphalt.

Traffic Impacts

Local traffic, emergency and waste collection services will be maintained. Through traffic may be restricted at times and flagging personnel will be directing traffic.

Project Status

Construction works completed.

Schedule

Asphalt removal works will begin on Wednesday, July 3 with paving works to follow within the week.

Project Description

The project limits consist of Moffat Street between Welland Street and Margaret Street.

The scope of work consisted of the installation of three HDPE maintenance holes, with PVC storm pipes connecting the manholes. A vegetated buttress was constructed at the base of the slope (in water works) to provide erosion protection with slope restorations, including the planting of trees, shrubs, etc. completed. The reinstatement of the eroded slope was also included in the scope of works. 

Traffic Impacts

Traffic has been restored. There are no traffic implications at this time.

Project has achieved substantial completion. Works will be monitored under the one-year warranty period for any deficiencies.

Project Description

The project limits consist of Townline Road and D’Youville Drive from the Townline Lift Station to a new sanitary manhole at the intersection of O’Brien Street and Bell Street.

The anticipated scope of work for 2024 will generally consist the connections between the directionally drilled pipes that were previously installed, the installation of air release valves, the installation of two (2) precast valve chambers and the connections to the existing pump station and the existing gravity sewer on Bell Street.

Traffic Impacts

D’Youville Drive between Mackay Street and Cecelia Street will be closed for the installation of air release chamber March 22 and March 25-27 between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. Detours will be in place.

Status

Construction works ongoing.

Schedule

Chamber and air release valve works are ongoing with the connection works being completed as the construction season progresses. An updated schedule will be provided.
