A by-law is in place to regulate recreational open-air burning in the City of Pembroke. Recreational open-air burning fires (wood-burning) are only permitted along the Ottawa, Indian, and Muskrat Rivers on properties that front the water or are within close proximity as determined by the Chief Fire Official.
A site inspection of your property is required prior to the issuance of a permit. For a permit application, contact or visit the Pembroke Fire Department. Permit fees are $50 for renewal and $100 for new permits. Permits are in effect for a 12-month period from the date of issue. Payment can be made by cheque or cash only.
Propane and natural gas heating appliances are permitted at residences within the City of Pembroke.
For more information, consult the Recreational Open-Air Burning By-law.
