The City of Pembroke is mourning the passing of former City of Pembroke mayor and councillor Henry V. Brown, who died on August 25, 2024, at 87 years old.
A devoted educator and business owner in the Pembroke community, he served as Pembroke’s 39th mayor from 1975-1980 in addition to spending many years as a councillor. Under his leadership, Pembroke saw significant and long-lasting change, with the development of the Pembroke and Area Community Centre, the Pembroke Marina, and Festival Hall, in addition to his advocacy for geared-to-income and seniors housing.
“Henry Brown dedicated his life to the service of others, whether in City Hall or in the halls of our schools,” said Mayor Ron Gervais. “Through his efforts and work during his time as an elected official, his legacy lives on today in the Heart of the Ottawa Valley. We extend our warmest wishes and condolences to his family, friends, and colleagues who mourn his loss.”
Flags on all City of Pembroke facilities will be lowered to half-mast until September 2, 2024, to honour and commemorate the life and service of Henry V. Brown.
