With the Province further easing health mandates March 21, the City of Pembroke will be making some changes to its operations.
Effective Monday, March 21, the Province will be lifting masking requirements in most settings, including recreation facilities. In step with this change, the City will no longer require users of our facilities to wear masks; however, masks are still encouraged, especially for people with higher personal health risks, or those who have close family or friends who are vulnerable to severe infection.
The Renfrew County and District Health Unit has noted that although local case numbers are improving, the situation in Renfrew County tends to lag Toronto and Ottawa by two-three weeks, and local numbers are still a concern. There are also ongoing risks due to the winter season, March Break, and lots of travel. Because of these risks, City of Pembroke employees will continue to wear masks and practice physical distancing in the workplace at this time.
The City thanks our residents for their efforts over the past two years to help keep our community safe. We remind everyone to continue to be kind as we all navigate this next stage of reopening.
